Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-18. The short version: we don’t collect much.
The short version
Standing Desk Reference is a mostly-static website. We don’t use first-party tracking cookies, we don’t require accounts, we don’t collect comments, and we don’t sell data to anyone. We don’t want your information; we want your time on the site to be useful.
What we collect
- Server access logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information — IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referring URL, user-agent string — for every page view. These logs are used to debug problems and understand aggregate site usage, and are retained per our host’s standard retention policy. They are not used to identify individual visitors.
- Email address, if you sign up for our newsletter. We have an email-collection form in the site footer. If you submit your address there, we use it to send occasional updates about deals on standing desks and accessories — no more than a few times a year. You can unsubscribe from any email with one click. We do not share or sell the list.
- Aggregate analytics, if applicable. If we’ve enabled analytics on the site (the current implementation does not appear to load any analytics script, but this may change), it would be configured to collect aggregate, non-personally-identifying usage data such as page views and traffic sources, and would honor Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control signals. If you see a cookie banner on the site, that’s the trigger to read this section more carefully.
What we don’t collect
- User accounts — we don’t have any
- Comments — we don’t accept comments on this site
- Payment information — we don’t sell anything directly; product purchases go to the merchant via outbound link
- Tracking cookies set by Standing Desk Reference itself
- Cross-site tracking or fingerprinting
Third parties
When you click an outbound product link on this site, the destination merchant (Amazon, Ergodriven, Uplift, Flexispot, etc.) may set their own cookies and collect their own data per their own privacy policies — standard for any web link. Affiliate networks may also record that you arrived at the merchant via this site so that we can be credited if you complete a purchase. Our Affiliate Disclosure lists which merchants this applies to.
We embed media from third parties only when explicitly noted — e.g., an embedded YouTube video would load resources from YouTube. We do not embed cross-site tracking pixels or "share" buttons that phone home.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through our newsletter signup, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under your local privacy law — including the EU/UK’s GDPR, California’s CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws elsewhere. These typically include the right to access the data we hold about you, the right to correct or delete it, and the right to opt out of certain uses. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the email on our About page. We don’t require you to create an account or prove anything beyond reasonable identity verification.
If you’ve subscribed to our newsletter, you can also exercise the deletion right with one click via the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
Updates to this policy
When we change material aspects of how data is collected or used, we update this page and bump the “Last updated” date at the top. For substantial changes that affect existing newsletter subscribers, we will notify by email.
